Today (November 25th) Brian McKnight made an appearance at Macy's (Metro Center) on G street to sing a few cuts from his new Christmas album and to help Macy's celebrate the unveiling of their Holiday Window. The Ballou High School Marching band paraded down G Street and Santa Claus and Brian helped unveil the window. Brian also sang a few songs with his sons Brian Jr. and Nikolas. Plus if you spend $100 you will be entered to have a chance to meet Brian and have your CD signed.

Of course I went...
Soooooo... Here it is. My review. This doesn't have to be a long in detail review b/c I have clips of everything that happened. I got down to the Macy's Metro Center around 4:30. I had planned to ride the Metro, but I was running late so I opted to drive instead and just pay to park in a garage. I got to the front of the store and the only people there were security and news crews. As people start filling in I tried to get as close to the front as possible. I had on a Kappa sweatshirt which came to my advantage as one of the security guys was Frat and he helped me secure a good place near the front of the stage for the performance. So the police shut the street down and the Ballou High School Marching Band bombs around the corner forming the parade. They march down G street and back up the sidewak in front of the windows. A radio DJ (don't remember her name) comes out and welcomes us all to the window unveiling. She brings out Santa Claus and very special guest Brian McKnight. People were screaming and acting a fool. I was on TMZ paparazzi status running through the crowd trying to follow them. Santa said some little speech that nobody paid any mind to and open the curtains to reveal all the new windows. Then they walk back and Brian comes past me shakes my hand and they go inside. The band follows them inside and the hoards of people flood in behind them. There were so many people we broke the escalator going up to the fourth floor and the weight of us all made the thing go backwards, smoke and give off this horrible burnt rubber smell. I was like let me get my behind off this mess before it break and we fall through these four floors.
We got upstairs, Frat pulled me up and towards the front of the stage. I was like 5 feet back. The band comes back plays three more songs, Cha Cha Slide, Walk It Out, and something else. They mention that Macy's adopted them and they will be marching in the Thanksgiving parade in NY next year. So the radio lady comes back out and introduces Brian. Brian comes out and sings The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year, The Christmas Song, gets on the piano and sings I'll Be Home For Christmas. He then brings out his sons Brian Jr. and Nikko to sign with him on Let It Snow while Nikko played the guitar. They BOTH sound just LIKE their daddy, but Brian Jr. had his father's runs and vocal licks down cold! I had to do a church "YOU BETTA SANG BOY" shout out! LOL! The woman comes out and askes them to do the national Anthem b/c she heard they did a mean version of it. After a few minutes of getting it together, they do the song and sound GREAT. They continue with a little interview, and the woman was like this is the first time you sang with your boys. The fan in me goes NOPE! They sang with him on the Bethelem album, right as Brian says it. Brian talks about the CD, his son's doing an album to be released next year, him working with Babyface on a future project, and his holiday plans with his children, his inlaws, ex-wife Julia, her new boyfriend etc... The DJ was like ooooh that sounds like a movie. Brian says its the movie of his life. He thanks everyone for coming and they go backstage.
If you bought $100 worth of stuff you got a free CD and the chance to go up to talk to Brian and get it signed by him and his sons. I stood around and took a few pictures. I had half a mind to go buy something, get the autograph and then go to a Macy's in VA tomorrow and get my money back but I figured someone else would have already thought of that and they would do something to prevent it. I stalked a old white man buying a suit. As he paid for it I was like SIR!! I'll give you $20 right now for that receipt and ten minutes of your time. I just want to run upstairs, meet Brian, get my CD and you can have the money and your recipt back. He looked at me like I was crazy b/c he didn't know who Brian McKnight was and thought I was running a scam with some stolen clothes and needed a recipt to get money back. I was like sir, you can stand up there with me. PLEASE! He brushes me off and keeps walking. You half dead mothasucka! Annnnnyway... I was defeated so I just rolled out. Met two random woman on the way out and sparked a convo. Showed them my clips and one lady gave me her card to E-mail the clips and pics to her. She words for the US dept of Labor. Jesus is that you calling? I'm gonna attach my resume to this E-mail. Aint nothing to do but to do it... Soooo... Here are some pics...
Brian Jr is the oldest son. He is in the black North Face hoodie. Nikko is the youngest in the dreads and red and black hoodie.
I thought this pic was funny. Two hoochies... Uhm... excuse me. Two woman who were half dressed (in the 35 degree weather in DC) came up and tried to give Brian a copy of their demo. It's always about the hustle. LOL (couldn't make out the myspace address they wrote on the back of the CD tho. Brian's hand cut off the last part of the address. I searched but came up with nothing. Oh well...
And the video clips...
Santa & Brian Unveil The Macy's Windows
The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
The Christmas Song
I'll Be Home For Christmas (With Brian On Piano)
Let It Snow
Interview/National Athem
Interview
I converted the clips to a long video so I could burn the DVD for some people who asked for it so the Youtube clips came out a little rough. If you want to see a clearer version, let me know and I'll hook you up.
